We're very pleased to announce the signing to I, Voidhanger Records of Denmark's WOEBEGONE OBSCURED, purveyors of a blackened funeral doom/death metal fueled by inner thoughts of black holes, dark nature, occultism, melancholy and suicide feelings.

Formed in 2006, Woebegone Obscured found inspiration suddenly, when vocalist and drummer D Woe was commended to a mental asylum. Loathing in depression and suicide thoughts, the lyrical seed was planted solid.
Musicwise, it was considered a much, much slower approach than that of other current and past projects of its members, and it perfectly suited what Woebegone Obscured was looking for: ugly, yet interesting metal without being held back from the norms. Blackened funeral doom/death with no keyboards, no female chanting, no hyper-speed blasting...

While the band is busy recording its second album, I, Voidhanger Records will unveil W.O's metal art to the world by releasing a definitive and limited edition of their debut "Deathstination", with improved artwork and layout. Originally self-released in 2007, it is already a cult album, a nihilistic near-death experience highly revered by those into the dark heaviness and the crushing sounds of Evoken, Thergothon, and diSEMBOWELMENT.

Woebegone Obscured is D Woe (vocals, drums, guitars), K Woe (guitars, bass) and M Woe (guitars).

Graphic and layout for a secretly assembled tribute-album that will inaugurate a series of thematic releases on I, Voidhanger Records are almost complete.

78 minutes in length, the album will contain 4 exclusive tracks by the avant-garde/progressive doom masters AARNI and UMBRA NIHIL, the cosmic-ambient psychonauts JÄÄPORTIT, and the blackened space-doom project CAPUT LVIIIm (featuring members of necro-doomsters Malasangre, black-ambient visionaries Tronus Abyss, and avant-garde metallers Necroart).

Tentatively scheduled for a September release, the tribute will be out as a jewel case CD housed in a slipcase, with a 20-page full-colour booklet with lyrics and liner notes.

MIDNIGHT ODYSSEY has just released the "Forest Mourners" demo through the fine folks at Kunsthauch Records. CD comes with new cover artwork painted by Dis Pater himself.

In other news, the Australian one-man band is working hard on the next opus (apparently a double album!) to be released by I, Voidhanger Records in early 2011. The record will represent a step forward for Midnight Odyssey, that matured an even deeper fusion between nocturnal black metal, atmospheric ambient and kosmische music in 14 majestic songs that will leave you breathless. Stay tuned for more details.

Umbah's "Trilobeth" and Midnight Odyssey's "Firmament" are finally out and available to order at the e-shop!
